The next outstanding project at Galateca, ” Henwood Library – From a love of books and art”, of british multi-disciplinary artist Simon Henwood, will be part of The Night Of The Museums (18th May) as well as The Night Of The Galleries (24th May), events which estimate 6000 visitors for each of the nights.
Throughout the years, for two decades, Simon Henwood has experimented on various artistic fields, from painting, drawing, photography and books, to animations, music videos, installations and new media. His works have been exhibited all around the world, being presented at the MOMA (NYC), ICA (London), UCLA Hammer Museum (LA) and Galerie Sophie Sheideker (Paris) in a double exhibition with Francis Bacon. The artist is known for colaborating with Kanye West, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Roisin Murphy, Badly Drawn Boy or Imogen Heap for whom he directed music videos, made concepts for the campaign tour as well as for the albums, costumes, scenography or graphic design.
On the night of the 18th May, when the Bucharest museums await their visitors to enjoy exhibitions, music, dance performances, theatre and film, GALATECA will present a special project by Simon Henwood. A special screening directed by the British artist for the band Swans will run through 19:00 – 04:00 for the Bucharest audience who is eager to grasp beautiful art and music. Swans, the post-punk American band was founded in New York in 1982 by Michael Gira. „The Seer” is their twelfth album, released last year. LPs and CDs will be available for sale from the NEOGALATECA gallery-shop.
On the 24th May, the nocturnal consumers of art will enjoy another event recognized for its contemporary art support, the Night of the Galleries. On this occasion, GALATECA will prepare a series of screenings, books, illustrations, merchandise and CDs signed by Simon Henwood, in a remarkable multimedia project.
